I am 22 and I have still not got my name included in the voter list... oki so I am jst another youth whose not interested in politics and strongly believes 'es desh ka kuch nahin ho sakta'.

Then, you are wrong! I am jst the opposite. I am interested in politics... (anyone ready to give me a ticket(?)) and sometime in the future I may even go to the extent of the ones in Yuva... let me also say I wont do anything as bizzare as the ones in Rang de Basanti.

To start with I must say BarCampMumbai was as coOL as its theme 'Bindaas Geeks | Hackin over Vada Pav'

Some highlights :

3 simultaneous tracks named 'VadaPav, Bhaji on the Beach and ... dnt remember the name (?)
I luvd the wiki scheduler at the venue. Jst stick a note with ur name and topic on the board. (I moved my my note thrice ;-) . Finally I jst let it be..... and then Tarique moved it to the best slot (first on after the lunch brk)

The conference extended after sessions too. Mahesh Murthy from Pinstorm decided to drop me and Barkha home. We ended up at his office and him showing us around his coOL work place. BTW his was one of the coOLest talks at BarCamp. (Don't tell me you missed it :p)

TagSurfer - Extending the TagCloud

Motivation:

Unlike categories which are strict in nature tags are flexible. Flexibility of tags also comes from the fact that we use multiple words (keywords) to define a single item.
eg: barcamp barcampmumbai tagsurfer hacks

Now I would love to have a mechanism by which I could actually find some related content or may be jst digg some content.

TagClouds is a good way of doing it. Its intutive and looks good. But seriously its jst 1D... I click on one tag and I am jst shown entries tagged with that particular tag.

As the number of tags entries (or no. of entries in ur blogs or photoblogs ) increases one would surely need more intutive UIs than TagClouds

I did give examples of del.icio.us and flickr in my talk. I also commented that deli.icio.us doesnt allow me to search for entries tagged with 'ajax and css'. Here is what I meant. If I search for 'ajax css' in the scrh box on del.icio.us I am given with links that are tagged with 'ajax or css' and not necessarily with 'ajax and css'. I just verified this... which I i knew bt then I hadnt done much homewrk before my talk and so didnt argue with others... (btw I still may be wrong :p). on the other hand try 'ajax on my bookmarks'... you wud be shown links and on the right presented with 'related tags' links . Now this is interesting. If i click on the small '+' sign beside scriptalous I get all the links tagged with 'ajax and scriptalous' only. (... correct me if i m wrong :)

Newways.... more importantly TagClouds are jst 1D! and there is a lot we can do to improve them...!

Proposed 'TagSurfer':

TagSurfer is a TagCloud with added functionality of surfing through the tags. Its more like getting deeper and deeper within the tagcloud.

Lots of functionality could be added like if you surfed through a few tags and then clicked on one then you would be shown entries within that path only.
eg: 'barcamp -> barcampmumbai' is what you surfed through and finally click on 'hacks' you would be shown entries tagged with barcamp and barcampmumbai and hacks

PHP + Prototype ( ;-) Ajax )

Yup this was my first attempt to incorporate Ajax. TagSurfer needed Ajax and thats why I used it. It wasnt redundant at all.

Add <div id="tagsurfer">&ly;/div> to you template to get TagSurfer.

Copy the whole folder to you Wordpres directory and then enable the plugin in admin section.

Comments:

There was a lots of discussion during the talk and even later. Things like 'folksonomy' to ... collaborative filtering all came up and were spoken about. Now I know what 'No spectators , Only participants' means ;-). Ppl were not only listening but were also thinking and improvising.

I feel 'NiGhT MaRnAa' comes naturally to me. I can easily relate to all nocturnal beasts.

I guess it all started during my brothers' architechture days (or may be by birth bt it was then that i realized my potential). He used to work on his sheets and I would just give him company. Later, I started night maroing to study. Its always FuN to study at night. I like the quiet around.

Presently, I have found comfort in coding(programming) at night. Well, I can code at any time of the day but its different whn I code at night.Its just me and my computer. Sometimes I even play some soft easy music in the background when I am designing (or may be whn the quiet tends to eat me). I even happen to love the sunrise. It feels so empowering to me. So, I make sure I see the sunrise and then sleep :d

So what makes me think of this...? Well, jst another routine night maroing for me. This is what I am thinking right now...

Yup, now I do miss my college a lot... !

Few things tat I miss:

Going late and checking out the reactions of each and everyone (starting from my mom in the morning... to watchman, frnds, profs... wow now tats wat i call pleasure)

Playing...........yup all this sem we(... not me mch as I had a *smaLL* incident with my leg... ) have been playing cricket, badminton,.... and one could find everyone there, even ppl u wud guess dnt knw anything of outdoor games.

Giving seminars, wrkshps........oh yah there wud be atleast some activity put up once in every two weeks which wud be fun and interactive.

Sitting in the library after college (... didnt do this mch as the college session wud end before noon... :d).... oh ya even this is a FuN pass time

Sitting in the e-lab on the DUCS m/c's (esp. Launchpad < tats the name of a m/c) and having FuN

Havent taken case of anyone now for weeks together which is a really bad signals.... as it would mean I wud be geting on with this thing really seriously whn i join college (hope this is taken as a warning (chetavani and not a dhamaki))

Its alawayz interesting interacting with Profs. and considering its the last sem. i surely wud miss them aLL

How can I forget all my frnds....... c'on I reallly miss all of you....oh yah really... kasam se. i hope even you do! Plz do giv miss calls atleast....?

HoLi hai !!!

Yup, HoLi hai !

When i was *small* HoLi for me started weeks before the actual day. Baloons were the IN thing then and we used to be split up in tolis with lots of ammunition (water guns, baloons, etc. ). Then later came the days of plastic bags ... yah even those were coOL esp the 1-2ltrs once. I even remember the India-Pakistan fights (between our building and the adjacent one... each wud consider their building being India offcourse). How can I also forget digging the hole for burning holi and gather around it till it abates.

I also remember the entusiasm of RaNgPaNcHaMi in our building... the colors, the pulling, the scramblings, the small fights, the drags in muddy waters, eggs too, sliver paints, songs (yah songs too), davats,.. i can go on and on and on. Those were the oLd days... good oLd days ;-)

Yup, I knw it been a year now so wat... bt we (not many though... ) iDeas'05 gang just decided to hang arnd after the iNNovate'06 valedictory function and had a hell of a time. Oki the list goes like this.... me, digant, siddhesh, barkha, pallavi, nikita, nirupama and jalpa.... eight of us. Once the iNNovate'06 Valedictory function was over we did happen to loiter around for sometime... till then I had no clue tat we were going out together. I guess it was siddesh who called in and then it was decided on the fly. OKI so we decided to meet him at Santacruz (east) in a few mins (now u mst knw tat few mins here mean arnd a hour... so it wud be really difficult time for siddesh to wait for us)

Now to cut short the wonderful time we spent... jst writing down some random thoguhts.... in chronological order:

Never knew identifying wher the bus is heading is so tough.... esp for nirupama...nikita.. and pallavi. [they were confused bcoz the bus wud enter Kalina campus... frm the same side of the road... now dnt all vehicles follow the left hand side drive rule] Finally we had to go at the bus stop outside the campus to avoid any confusion.

Barkha can patao rickshawallas to take in 4... bt then we dropped this idea.

How it feels to let go empty double deckers in wait for someone... digant who fianlly called and said that we mak a move as he had some other wrk to do.

At the Santacruz station, I happened to spot siddesh early and going by my devilish instincts... I slowed my pace and let everyone go ahead of me, while I went straight towards siddesh.. I let others go and search for him near the ticket counter. Then I asked siddesh to call them and say that as they were late hes already left!.... Yup tat was a good one :p

Surprisingly even Digant happened to come to Santacruz station at the same time and so we all moved to Gokul (Santacruz - west)

Pallavi was feeling hungry the most and so was the most noisy one arnd,....! I stil remember her shouting at the waiter.... Paani toh chaiyeh hi na, theater hai kya ! , whn the waiter aasked her, Paani laaoon kya?.

So we ordered for... pav bhaji, masala pav, sandwhich and grilled sandwhich.

Nikitas pav bhaji was the fist to come and ...... so was the first to be finished. Everyone helped her... :p

Now, barkha happend to drop pieces of the grill sandwhich on her dress most of the time ... so pallavi did share a few tips on how to eat the sandwhich.. :d. So, after the tips barkha did pretty well by not letting the pieces fall on her dress bt managed to catch it on the tissue.

wOw it ended with a iCe-cReaMs ... my fav tender coconut !!!!

wOw... wOw... wOw... finally one come to knw tat it was a treat...... LoL. Yes it was a treat from UMIT (mst be bcz they won the Best CSI Student Chapter... bt then was the reason tat imp :d)

So, a few more memorable moments from the iDeas'05 gang. Hope we meet again soon. You can even read wht Barkha has to say abt this... here

Yup, had been to Rezonance'06 UMIT college tech-fest primarily for completely different reasons but ended up participationg in the WebD competition bcoz:

There was nothing else to do as the robotics event (Ravi had participated here... also i expected many colelge frnds to turn-p for the event lik on the previous day) which was going to be held was delayed.
Ravi and I decided to crown one of us the WebD champion...( or wateva tat is) once and for all.

The subject given to us was Game Website... and this > GameVilla is what i made. Its a gaming website specially targetted for kids (or adult kids), very obvious from the whole look. Did a lot of photoshopping esp. for the banner.

So, any guesses wat happend?

[Would write abt it in next post... also would try and desc the whole outing and FuN we had...:p ]

Well, how did i remember of Rezonance'05 (UMIT tech-fest)...?

Its, bcoz today i attended Rezonance'06 and it was FuN lik always!

I still remember during the valedictory function last year(05) the whole audi was filed with girls (imagine.. the stall and balcony filled.. HOUSEFULL) except for the last two rows which was occupied by the DBIT boys.. :d Now, try and imagine the response winners from UMIT would be getting in the audi and so obvously we werent feeling tat good about it... as we(DBITians) had dominated it completely. So, just to feel good of wat we had done, we started giving a huge responce for all of us... giving a standing avation, shouting bosco bosco bosco... don bosco[victory call] (even few boys from other colleges joined us in it (read as Shiva... Vinod's frnd)). Adding to it was a loud boo... and looser...loosers for Karan from AC Patil college who had used unethical ways to defeat Ravi...! We surely showed our vocal chords were functional and better than theatre Digital Dolby with Surround sound systems.

Everyone in ther was shocked... never before have i seen organisers stunned with wat was happening in there. Above all I was then the CSI Chair of my college and very well knew the organising committe of the event and could easily recognise from their looks tat they were frozen.

One more thing... remember I had been to UMIT to conduct a workshop couple of weeks back. Back then I did happen to stumble upon a folder named aks_dbit while helping out one of the participants in theworkshop. It didnt take time for me to realize it was the website I had created for WebD @ ReZoNaNcE'05 a year back.

Yup, now I am posting from Ubuntu 5.10. Well its not the first time I m on a LInux (read as GNU/Linux) system but i m excited jst bcoz my ISP Pacenet doesnt support Linux and I had to try a few hacks. Finally, I have done it!

For the last few weeks I have been using Linux systems extensively and thus i went this extra mile in getting it done.

Anyone requiring support for Pacenet on linux now know where you can find it!

3rd in Paper Presentation (Web2.0: A Paradigm Shift)
(not sure how many understood... neways wud like to giv it another try again someplace. was 3rd by a narow margin of 0.333)

3rd in Software Presentation (Qikblogger)
(my mistake didnt explain it well... esp that it allows 2 way communication which lagged in the one which came second. also sud get the hang of explainging things in the most complicated way to make them sound magnamus. was just a point behind the leader... it was a tie for the first place)

3rd in Web Designing (Delta Airways)
(was highest considering the scores given by 3 judges individually bt then when the points were averaged of all the four judges i was third (hpw u realize who the spoilsport was)... wat a surprise!!! itz now i realize the power of averaging)

Conclusions...

i did participate... something which is very important[very few realize this]...( sounds lik a looser!!! ;-) bt then itz the way i see things ... itz the way is persist.... itz the way i njoy things tooo...

Colosseum'06 was the inter-college techfest organised in college which had loads of events. Though there were not many students from other colleges, it was competitive and fun.

my iNjUrEd left leg

hm... theres been a lot of speculation about my leg injury and i need to clear the air around it due to a spl request and also bcoz i want to. also wana let everyone knw its not bcoz of the marathon, though both the events are too close and associating both would be teh simplest way out!

Once upon a time i lived in a 700 sq. ft apartment. They were the good old days of glass windows, no sliding doors. Then came a decision of all flat owners to extend two rooms for an additional space (...how hungry!). Now, everything sounds just perfect but extending our hall exposed a beam which hangs at around 6.5 ft. I know this doesnt sound so bad but then what one does with the resources at hand is very important. I like kicking that beam. No! its not a stress buster or anger management toy but jst a dare for me. I lik to do it just to ensure i m in good shape. Now this was days after i had recoverd from the marathon and i wantd to just chk whether i was back in shape. So here I was, taking a initial start and deciding to give my 100%, i jumped in air and strechd my left leg as high as i could to reach my goal which i almost did. But on the way up i heard a loud click sound which had something really peculiar about it. Though i have hrd so many click sounds, i knew something had gone wrong. I was a little disappointed that i missed my mark but then it was dinner time and i forgot about it and had my dinnerand slept. Got up early in the morning because of a pulsating pain in my left ankle. Thats it!!!

Did attend college for the next 3 days on acount of the cult-techfest. On wednesday things were so bad that I was at the bus stop in Santacruz (its where i catch the bus to my college from) and had to go to a chemist and ask him for a pain killer. Did attend the next two days of collge with pain killers offcourse...

Sad, coudnt attend the Annuals bcoz the doc told me pain killers is not the way its gonna get alright... giv it rest... so here i m writing this post, giving it rest and wearing a ankle support.

Choose Tools-> Install this User Script

To test the script Search Microsoft on Google

For the uninterested what this script does is simple... replaces the text 'Microsoft' with 'M$' in the browser window. It is for people having a problem with the name 'Microsoft'. Surprisingly, I am not one of them!

WrKsHoP in UMIT

I will be conducting a workshop in UMIT, Santacruz at 9:30am on Morphing (images) using Adobe Photoshop and it would be probably attended by atleast 100 students considering the enormous response the registration has recieved. Initially the workshop was to be conducted last semester but due to other prior appointments (;-) it didnt materialise.

By the way many more than 100 registrations have been recieved. Also, the other thing to note here is that Saturday being a holiday, if even 100 students (or for that matter 50) do make it for the workshop then it would surely be surprising for everyone including me.

Now, this is my BIG* day... hope I dont screw up.

Things I need to look out for:

Be on time... OR atleast try to.
Keep my ONE liners to myself and better concentrate on the topic.
Don't go overboard and jst show ppl fireworks and not show them the techniques to create them.
I also need to define what I am giong to cover. I hope everyone who attends the workshop feels more confident after attending it.

Things I need to seriously worry about:

Control my nerves... now this is going to be tough bcoz I would be the only male among 50-60 girls (per batch) in the lab.
Girls...girls and more girls. ( bachaaaaooOOoo)
Hope I get to see few familiar faces around... otherwise it is gonna be tough. If you are reading this then do come down and say hi. (acha lagta hai...)

Wow I am back !

Just to put in on record I was a little(15 mins) late but then everyone was and so it wasnt embarassing at all. Sejal(UMIT CSI chair) did ask me to meet her at the ITW(Institute of Technology for Women) entrance and there I was standing quietly having no idea who she was. Though I was sure to recognised her as I had seen her during the Robotics competition in our college but wasnt sure which one of the four girls she was as we not formally introduced to eachother then. Finally, there I was gazing at my own creation on the notice board (logo of Colosseum poster) and jst wondering when Sejal would show up and take me to the karmabhoomi. And there she was walking camly towards me and I didnt take time to realize that it was her. We said our Hi's and she asked me if I would lik to see Barkha and I readily agreed. (BTW was good to meet you Barkha after so long...! and Nikita after so so so long...!!! Was wondering wher she was all this while...? No contact at all.. not even offlines? Didnt meet anyone else...). Later, she took me straight to the CC2 lab, well its the same lab where I had participated in the WebD competitions for the past two years(that means effectively spent 9 hours thinking in the same lab). Met Neha there. We hadn't met before but knew eachother(LoL). So sweet of her for making sure that I dnt get bored up there.

Now it was around 10:15 and everyone started assembling in the lab. I was so skeptical of ppl turing up on a Saturday for a workshop but then they did and soon the lab was on the brink of being overflown. It was hard for me to be inside waiting for them to get settled. So, there I was peeking at notice boards and calming myself down. Just to point the fact that final year student projects there were much more interesting then ones in our college.

Now it was time for me to start the workshop. Sejal gave a brief introduction about me stressing on the following keywords... frm DBIT, won webD competitions, now placed in Patni (this was a shocker). The workshop I would say was very typically ME... saying so bcoz I lik it if there is no script to stick to and everything jst bulids up as it needs to.

The first batch ended up at 12 and it was tiring. Was served a paneer frankie at the end of it which was much needed bt then made me feel a bit lazier. The first batch kept me on my toes all the time bcoz it was full and everyone I felt was entusiastic while the second batch was soft, coOL and laid back.

Did read the feedback sheet which was passed after the wrkshop and it was satisfying to say the least. Overall I must say it was a fulfilling experience for me and keep looking for more such opportunities in other colleges too.

Finally, my sincere thanks to Neha and Sejal for inviting me. It surely is a memorable experience... thnx so so much.

Oh...yaah I must say its been a very good start to the new year. Saying this because finally I did play for my class football team as a goalkeeper. I played with the likes of Adolph (our captain, stopper and a brusque at heart), Melvin (ace defender), Bosco (defender and a show-off purist...;-), Biju (strong kicker), Steve (ace shooter) Darryl (stinger) and Ravi (our striker with a Golden leg... atleast i feel so but the records say a different story altogether).

I did hav to mak a statement in the game... I am far better than Revin and Ryan previous year goal-keepers but nothing was more important than winnning the game for my team. All I wanted to do was not to let the ball anywere closer to the goal.

The game began with the goal in first 2 seconds... yup guys 2 secs or may be lesser. Biju kicked the ball from the center starting position right into the goal of the opponent team. Just imagine the faces of the opponents and the people watching the game... esp the goal-keeper.

The rest of the game was full of excitement as the opponents continuously trying to equalize. I did make quite a few daring saves and one super-save which everyone appreciated even the audience. Finally, the opponents equalized with two minutes for the whistle from a continuous second attempt at the goal and me making a full dive to my left but to no avail. We lost in the penalty shoot-outs later.

I m sure the marks of the dive would remain with me for a couple of weeks now and these memories forever...

My college re-opend on 2nd January but I m stil not convinced about this. I need someone to convince me it did and I better attend college. Also it's not that I m not making any efforts to rejoin college after my vacations. I did make two short appearances in college but both just made me realize the fact that I am going to waste my time attending college. I don't find it worth travelling all the way to college. To top it all we have got half-days for the first two weeks. I would for sure love to do some creative work here at home but even that is far from what I land up doing. Decided to attend college tommorrow but it would be more for the website of the upcomming college fest Collosseum '06 rather than the lectures. My first appearance in college(after the lectures got over) did work out well as I designed the logo for Colosseum '06 (will show it to you all too... soon). Everyone seemed to love it. Principal and Father Marion appreciated it too with a speacial mention of the concept I managed to portray. Hpe tommorrow is a good day too. Amen.

I believe one doesnt have to wait for 1st Jan to make resolutions, any time is just appropriate as long as you stick to them. Though I feel making resolutions on the 1st is always simpler. Feels like leaving behind everything you did and starting afresh. I knw a lot of people do avoid making resolutions not because they don't have any but jst because they(even me) can't stick to them. nt sounding too cliche.......adding few words n sharing experiences of the trek..........away from civilization and modern amenities this trek was an unique opportunity to catch a peek .The experience is overall exhilarating. It din require much climbing experience……..hey n some of us proved it ;….;kudos to all the frst timers. n1 with sound health( exceptions allowed …like .akshat who was unwell) can do the fruitful climb. The bottom line is itz a mind game .Navigating thrugh steep hills u can hear our mentor(akshay) cum mommie say take baby steps……. don let urself get fatigued …………WE HAVE ALMOST REACHED……..CAN U C D FLAG…which I couldn’t figure out almst till the end of trek .alas there v see flag fluttering in the wind .here we heave a sigh of relief.....no more climbing.......n sigh of joy.....sense of reaching the height

Wise words……….during the .task never get discouraged……………be persistant to attain the goal …..seek the strength to keep ur spirits high ……..b urself………..njoy urself ………….

The attained experience is extremely rewarding and rejuvenating

I remember repeating this so many times that "Destination for us is
only a point from which we can get back home safely" - Akky but
somewhere in the back of my mind I wanted everyone to make it to the
top and i suceeded(so what if partially). Since most of us were first
timers its always gr8 to reach the summit in your first attempt.

I knew the key to reach Mahuli summit is two-fold first is covering
the initial part of the trek (reaching the base + overcomming those
monotonous steps) and then once you hav your goal (the flag in this
case) in front u woudnt need much motivation from my side.

I remember almost each one(except for Jasmine) of you asking me how
long wud it take NOW and me replying "Not much OR Lets cover this
patch OR There is this interesting valley on the other side OR Now the
steps wud get over OR Hey we are jst getting close OR Can u spot the
Jain Mandiram there see how far we have come so soon (now this was
true... bt u all cudnt see it) OR Its nice and coOL thru the thick
forest isnt it (jst to mak u all feel better) OR briefing you abt the
terrain (u knw it always helps to knw what you are gettin into)". But
i guess all this lies was worth it and hope you realize that its jst a
MIND GAME. Now , once you had you goal in front of you I m sure there
was no reason not to go for it.

Also you all pulling my leg by calling me all sorts of names jst workd
in you favour bcoz you wud get those few secs to think abt pulling my
leg rather that thinking how tired you were. Also, there is a nice
coOL name to call a person lik me on the trek 'Trek Leader' bt gud u
didnt call me with it bcoz it wud be so embarassing as Trek Leaders
are much more experienced than I am.

I must say it was so satisfying for me to do the honours by shouting
the 'Jay Gunj' (do chk the video for it... Sandy told me that its cum
awesome)at the top. Thnks so so much.

I had planned another trek in this week but i cancelled it bcoz this
trek has been so satisfying. I can still recollect every bit of it as
it was jst yesterday.

ManAsi:

My or rather our first trek and we all……...well almost all of us completed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a real gr8 feeling!!! And the icing of the cake was the fact that we 11 school friends were meeting together after a span of 5 year !!!!!! I wish more ppl could make it but maybe sometime…….later…………..

………like the fact tht we all cribbed and cribbed abt the distance tht we had to walk………I agree tht the distance was way too much than any of us expected but the fact remain true that half the time the cribbing was totally unnecessary……………

……………….i have never cribbed in my life so much !!!!!!!!!!!!……….but I thoroughly enjoyed cribbing frm the night before the trek, through the entire trek and till dadar station arrived while returning………..the cribbing started at asangaon station and so did the LIES(Tats for ME)!!!!!!!!!!!!

……………..lies, lies ,lies, lies , wrong facts, more lies abt the time required to reach the base and the top…………and the list is endless…………god !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup this semester is officially now over. Our project vivas finally got over.

A Few highlights though:

I feel the slides I made jst RoCkD !!!
Amiya Sir offered me coffee and I readily accepted it (shameless me !)
Amiya Sir rcommended our project as being something new and different (Thnks Sir).
Manav started the presentation and after a few slides the external asked for a break and we offcourse agreed. So, Manav did start everything again. (ya and now without any loop holes)
Surprisingly, the external was knowledgeable (LoL)
The external demanded an Architecture diagram of the project frm all our previous proj grps and they didnt have any clue of it. They tried to divert his attention by showing him all sorts of diagrams bt this guy just insisted on an Architectrue diagram. On the other hand I designed on one diagram in our project which was the Architecture diagram. (( ;-))
Convinced him about the implementation details and the rest (was the easiest part)
The external said GOOD at the end of our presentation (I wanted to shout Yes! loudly bt I jst let that moment pass... self-control hahaha)
Jst did wait for the last two presentations to get over. Good we did bcoz by the last presentation none of the students were there and the external was full throtle screwing the last grp(contrary to belief voh pak gaya hoga)... even the principal joined in. I m sure if we wudnt have been there toh yeh log unko khaa jaate (...support)

Jst another record... nothing GR8 ( i have my DSP exams on the 18th 13th of this month and our DSP mam would keep on using these words 'Nothing GR8' for anything... and I mean anything at aLL lik... some formula, method or an event ... hm everything. Though I must mention that she taught us pretty well. This doesnt mean that I am well prepared bt jst tat only I wud be to be blamed if things go wrong. She did her job well. I must also add that while she regularly conducted our lectures she was pregnant... now isnt tat GR8??? Just wishing her Luck and Safe Delivery. Keeping with the cricket theme of this post... Riyaz who is doing BDS in Gulbarg once told me that students in his college call a Gynaecologist a WicketKeeper (dnt ask y?).... LoL HaHaHaHA !!!) I just dont care about the records Sachin makes... all I want is to see him playing for India. He is the reason I watch cricket! Can't imagine watching cricket after him. And why imagine such weird things if he continues to play in his current form. Some fuN> Try "Akshay Surve" with the quotes in Google search. You would see a result with 53 runs scored. Well, that me.. and I am so so proud of it... LoL! Don't know how proud I would have if I had 35 centuries with my name... LoL

Advanced Miroprocessor

I am afraid of subjects related to Microprocessors (Mup) like COA, Mup and now Advanced Mup. I really am! Its so scary... so so scary. I cant explain. As scary as the film Raat (remembered of this film because it was being shown on cable last night and I didnt have the guts to see it alone. I still remember the bed scene(LoL... i hpe ppl who have seen the movie would figure out.. the rest use ur wicked imagination) in the film which haunted me for months).

Well, not because its difficult for me but just because I can finish the subject from scratch in a day. Can't figure out why? Also, revising just takes hours (around 6hrs). I dont find these figures from any viewpoint normal. Is there anyone on this plannet facing a similar situation.. do let me know! I would atleast feel a little better.

Now, about the paper... Just another classic MU paper filled with lots of expected questions, unequally distributed weightage and a couple of ambigious questions in between and you are in for a ride. Not as exciting as Essel World ones but much worse considering the fact that your future depends on it.

Did manage to attempt a decent total in the end.

BTW i hate the word 'attempt'. Don't know why I included it in my vocab. It plays on your mind so badly that you only think of 'attempting' things rather than answering questions to their merit.

Frnds and their foes plz do remind me what we used to use instead of the word 'attempt' in our school days. I desperately want to remeber it. I am sure there must be some good word to use instead of 'attempt'. Plz,plz,plz...

Somewhere from within I wanted to be there. One reason being, no one from my immediate family has been there. Its always feels good to be there first. Patil Kaka is very close to it(i thought he had made it) but he fell short of it. My brother wanted me to be there. Even my parents did (I guess so... esp my mom).

I still cant believe that i actually made it. Its been a long journey. So long that I have lost track of the phases that i have been through. 'Then' was just a couple of years back. For me the view of the world has changed(as you can see in the picture). I hope its for the good.

I just want to say 'Bhai I made it'. Good wishes to everyone who wanted me to be there.

Yup, I am a Planner. (For the technically inclined... i m a Continuous Planning Agent)

Planning is one thing that keeps me going on and on... all year round. I make plans for most of the things I wanna do... be it academics, projects, resolutions, outings and wat not.

Some feel that implementing a plan is very very important and rightly so! Whats the use of making plans and not sticking to them. Isn't it Right? My answer would be Yes and No. Yes, because conciously trying to implement your plans is a bare necessity but what is more important is that you keep on monitoring your approach and goals and replanning as and when necessary. Getting to your goals is what your objective should be and planning is just a process and a means. I dont always make plans to follow them but sometimes I jst try and make a plan to initiate a thinking process which i feel is very important.

Why am i discussing all this... ? Well bcoz its exam time and I am ready with my plans ;-) LoL !

Two days into the process and I have already made a few modifications to it! All for the good!
Do you wanna know wat it is ...? OR should I keep it to myself!

Hey, one more plan is in the pipeline. Planning for a trek once again for Mahuli on 18th December but this time with my School_Friends . I am sure its gonna be gr8 FuN. Will keeep you all updated of it.

Theres a lot of confusion regarding this rhyme that I tried to write. Well let me try and make things clearer if not clear.

What I have written is what i feel or more properly said its how I take things and act accordingly. Also, its not written for a particular person but may be triggered by a particular incident. I always played with this question in my mind whether one should tell the other person what you feel about them... may be relatives, frnds, girl friends ;-) etc. Its a dicy situation when it comes to frnds. I mean i believe tat friendships take place. I dont remember myself saying to any of my close frnds that we are best friends. I guess that feeling just seeps in. Do check out wat Pascal has to say... very thoughtful! I do find it appropriate for relatives and gFs though ;-).

Finally, someone did relate to what i think!

Update: Well, all said and done....! I recieve a call around midnight from someone completely unexpected..Sumesh and he had come down to Sankools place for bursting some crackers. Even though Sankool tried to convince me earlier in the evening but coudn't. It didnt take a lot of time for Sumesh though because by midnight I was just bored of studying so wanted to freak out too. Now, there I was with Sankool, Sumesh and Akshat just freaking out trying everything possible with the available resources(like... lighting rassi bombs in a helmet, cans, road divider and anything else that we could get our hands on) Most of the time I was bursting laxmi bombs by lighting them in my hand and then throwing them in the air. I had almost perfected the art by the time we had to stop. Yah.. finally we did stop at 2:30am but only after intervention from neighbours ;-)

Should I add that we enjoyed...;-)

Now something about me:

Let me start by saying that school days for me dont seem that far. It feels like yesterday (err... may be day before yesterday... hm.. somehting like last week or so ... forget it .. i hope you get it, arey bhavanaoonko samjho)

School days is what my memories are made of, Diploma (which I happened to choose after SSC) is most forgetfull and now again Degree (BE) is enjoyable (after Diploma I have grown to appreciate even the slightest of good things that happen in my life :--) LoL

I am not pretty sure about other streams but Mumbai Universtiy(MU) Engineering surely suCks ! Its the most insane place you can be. I am sure so many of you would share the same feelings (Akshat, Bonsy, Dazzle, Vasajit, Rohit, Shruti, Kushboo, Nihal, Prakash ... and the list goes on). Kyun dukhti nas par haath rakh diya nah?
I would also like to mention one good thing about MU which is... one who passes out of it is a certified Crunch Situation Specialist. So now you know who to contact in case of crunch situations. (Need not say most of the times they are the ones who create such situations)
Well I can go on and on about Engineering may be forever. So, keeping the crap with me and writing about something else.

Well this reminds me of Doctors who are quite a few among us. I didnt get into medicine bcoz of disection and the related acts. One good thing about Doctors is that they get a chance to serve our nation and the people. Bade dil wale log hain!

Also quite a few opting for Commerce. Now for the record I know the basic funda of commerce:
Debit the reciever and Credit the giver. Did I get this right >?

Today I had been to this amazing event of Kshana - Moments of Happiness (of which I am a fairly active element) at Shraddha Vihar Girls Orphanage in Andheri. Though I do take active part in organising events only in the first 2-3 months of the sem I do try and attend the events if possible.

The event was scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 and I did reach on time for the event but could not plan and reach with others bcoz I was expecting a call from someone who may hav joined me.
It must be 15 of us there and it started with the usual Hi... Hellos and stuff.

First up was a magic shoe for the kids (most of them (arnd 35-40) were 8-13 age group and another 20 odd were of 14-17 age group) didnt confirm bt it loked so. The magician was a regular at our events but today he was at his best. I coudnt even guess wat was going on actually. Everyone, I mean everyone enjoyed the tricks. He did a great job and later I even congratulated him personally.

Next up was a small filler by 2 gals from the same place who performed well. One of the gals danced like a pro... wid the rythym.

Now after this we had a game... read on this is the interesting part....!
The game was pretty simple all the gals were divided into these 3 group houses (red,green and blue) and they had to build this long straw by joining straws that were provided The trick here was to first collect max no of straws and then join them together w/o any brks. I was made the red house leader. I started my job immediately and tried to group all the red house galz. To my surprise a few of them were calling me Sujal... [frm Kahin to Hoga LoL bt i didnt realize it until later]. The rulz wer explained and I used my team leading skills to motivate them (eg: i asked them to split into grp of 4s and wrk). While all this was going I did realize that I was being referred to as Sujal. I promptly replied I am Akshay and as usual they did voice their Qs whether I was Kumar or Khanna... LoL but they ddint stop they were still referring to me as Sujal. The game started and all was lookin fine bt the only prob was that my team waited for the others to collect the straws and them did peick up the remaining ones (less compared to others). I was waiting for them at the other end where we had to join the straws together. These galz were still calling me Sujal and I was jst blushing away bcoz I was so mch surpised by all this. We finished the earliest bcoz we had colected the least no of straws. I did try to cheat for them... I knew wher the xtra straw packs were kept bt I was caught red handed while doing so by Vaisakhi. This Sujal thing was getting more prominent now since they were free as all the strwas wer put in place. Now othere Kshanaites did understand wat was going on and even they were surprised. LoL. We knew we were loosing... bt it was a happy ending.

Next up was a filler by Anand wid some mimicry of stars which was a hit. Hes a class apart at hosting events bt i guess even Roshni does pretty well. Shes not into mimicry its jst her persona which is a attention puller.

Now we had the most happening session comming up - The Jam Session. Music wasnt upto the mark bt was okie for tat place somehow. When the music started I heard screams of Sujal... Sujal... Sujal (I saw behind and those 13-16 age odd galz were waving at me as if calling me behind). I wasnt mentally prepared for it bcoz it takes me time before I get onto the dance floor. I dnt like to start the whole thing. But here it was gona be different ! As soon as I realized wat I was getting into my ran out.. newways i was near the door so it was more like jst going out for fresh air. Everyone insided realized that they were calling me to dance and I sud join them.. esp Aditi she pulled me in and pushed me behind wid all those galz surrounding me. By GODs grace no gal misbehaved... LoL! except pulling me by my hand. The music was on and I was the center of attraction there ...I had to start something... and I did some nice moves here and there .tats it and tats all tat I can do. But i kept the tempo going. Those galz were suggesting some moves and I was trying them out. Now other Kshanaites were jst staring ..LoL I guess they were surprised by the fan following. There are couple of excellent dancers with us Kunal(like Govinda) and Aditi (nice and smooth). Now I was gettin repetitive bt wsnt gettin bored bcoz even the music wasnt upto the mark and those galz (12-15 pf them) were chattting wid me continuously. Asking me wehre is Kashish (female lead opposite Sujal) and otehr kinds Qs. Now this was my time. I said Kashish is standing there (I pointed towards Aditi) they pulled her in and I did get company for sometime. But they werent impresed by Kashish as mch aas by Sujal so Kashish was chuckd off soon. Now I had started this funddo move ( Bulb lagao, nal bandh karo.. LoL ) it was a instant hit. Everyone was in it. Tried everything frm fitting bullbs, eating apples and jst looking at ladoos. Try and imagine how these moves looked like. OoooooH my I really performed them well dnt care mch bcoz everyone liked it atleast they were njoying it a lot. We had Kashish ocassionally comming up to shake a leg. Well I was being called Sujal.. Sujal bhaiya.. Sujal Uncle and sometimes by mistak Akshay. I still can recollect everything. By the end of the session i was a lil tired bt i dint stop bcoz their enthusiasm was addictive. At the later stages they were prompting me to try 'Bulb lagao, nal bandh karo' step LoL.
Finally the dance session was over and I thought all the fan folowing was over.

I did sit near the steps to tak a few breaths and get a fell of things. By this time Kshanites had started serving snacks (cake and veg pattice). I did try helping bt there were already enough of us involved in it and I didnt want to create confusion so I again did sit on the stairs with Vaisakhi. Now all Kshanaites were also referring to me as Sujal... LoL.

To my surprise these galz were still waving at me and enacting that 'Bulb lagao, nal bandh karo' step. Even I reciprocated their actions which sent a roar thoughtout the hall.. Sujal.. Sujal.. Sujal. They also offerd me wat they were eating and i did eat jst a lil from each ones plate (Vaisakhi was staring .. LoL and said bhaiya ko nahin khana hai ,.and i said .nahin nahin khana hai.. ! jst to keep their heart)

In sometime they finished their snacks and again were free and so I was surrounded with them asking me all sorts of Qs. (egs: Hey is she(Aditi) really ur Kashish? I said no jst for today LoL. Then where is ur Kashish?I said I wud bring her once dnt worry. LoL Wats her name? and so many...) I was answering them honestly as always and making sure they were not offended anytime. I did ask them wat they were doing and wat wud they like to do and aLL... They had some xam on monday and all were schooling and wer in didffernt stds.

It was time to say goodbye ... bt the byes were not ending. I mst hav shaken hands with most of them more than once... and repeated tat dance step so many times jst for public demand. Others (Roshni) did pull me out of that place bt I did go inside again and again ( well to get my shoes then wind-shitter...etc). They did ask me whn wud i come bak... next Sunday? next month? etc. I didnt want to discourage them so I involved Ritesh (ChirmanSaaab) to tell them when. After some hesitation he did promise them of Christmas eve(24th i guess). Now phase I of saying goodbye had ended and we were out of that place and most of the galz had gone upstairs.

Outside we were taking group snaps for our memoirs. Now ther was again this wave of Suja.. Akshay.. Sujal..(voices), to everyones suprise 10-12 galz wer there on the terrace waving. Now this I never expected (bt everything tat day was unexpected) so i did wave at them to.. some return flying kisses (very innocently though) too. Now ther was this expt tat Aditi(Kashish) performed... she stood very close to me more llike huggin eachother and the voiced frm the terrace stopped. LoL funny results right ! But they all started as soon as she wasnt tat close. Even this continued for long.

Now it was time to actually leave the place. SAid my final goodbyes for everyone at the top... also my last wave and i did repeat tat step again a few times.
Still remeber a few name ..Priyanka,Savita, Sapna, Priya...this is for the recoed If i get bak there again)

ChairmanSahab ka ofice main promotion hua tha isliye we moved straight to Fanoos - Arabian food join (tried for CCD bt no place for 15 of us). Sorry didnt mention about Vidhi Swapnesh's cousin who had also come. VeeeeeeeeeEeeeeeeRy cute and sweet. Did a lot of timepass wid her at Fanoos. Usko bahut pakaya... ! We playd KBC2 .. I was computerji she was asking Qs and we were screening others.

Also met Kunal(diploma close frnd bt not in touch mch now) there wid his frnds! Usual hi's and all.. ! Treat frm Ritesh was good ...Ice teas and Pizzazs. Did chit chatter a lot.. it was over in lil over an hour. Said final goodbyes to all ..... and esp to Viddhi.

For me it wasnt over had to reach cousins place the same night... so it was me,Roshni and Aditi who went by bus to Andheri and I later caught another bus for Santacruz. Had dinner there finished the wrk fro which I had been ther and reached home by 12.

Finally I am writing this and re-living all the moments.

Well pics can no way let you experience what we did bt jst giv u a faint idea of wat was there.

Some higlights of the trek:

Trek was cancelled.

I tld Amit I wanna go there wid my frnds... can I mak it? He was assertive as always and in sometime called back and confirmed that even he would come. It was 8pm now. We decided if no one else is coming then we would surely go ahead with the trek. I tried getting in Sankool,Swapnes and Manav. Manav agreed instantly... he was all exxcited to come for a trek.. his first one.

I did my usual research the same night like i always do. It comes in handy.

Got up in the morning.. packd bags and reached goregaon stn before time very mch lik me... on time when it matters(so now you kne y i m late to college). Manav arrived late bt its fine I never mind ppl comming late. Reached Dadar and then boarded Kasara fast local. In the mean time Amit called and we was going to board the train from Kalyan which he did. Introduced Manav to him and started having a jugalbandi of dialouges on eachother ... makin fun of myself and others. Reached Asangaon by 9:30am as we planned.

The trek started with a long walk on the tracks. Amit and Manav took a halt to chng clothes (strip in front of villagers pasing by on the track) on a platform. I gues it was there jst for them.

After the tracks it was a walk on a tar road upto the base village. We did order for food and asked for Pitla-Bhakri esp. bcoz its the best to have @ sch a place.

Started the trek... need not say it was luch greeen everywhere with beautiful flowers around.

The trek was divided in 3 phases: walk upto the river (which was more like a stream then) - trek trail of rock cut steps - fairly easy climb

Manav did pretty well to match up wid us not to mention the words of encouragement and misleading facts that we kept on disclosing about the distance left and time left etc. so that he keeps going and we come back on time.

Did discuss a lot of things... usual marathi words that I m not aware of and Amit who keeps on using them... other trek exps... howtos for manav... todo and nottodos.... likes dislikes... atmosphere... historical facts (by amit) ... and ya also 'Jay gunj' to be sung while entering the fort. Amit taught me this it goes like...

Well it took me a long time to byheart it. It solved 2 purposes one being I would get to do the honours (singing it at teh entrance) and irritating Amit by repeating it continuously.

Met felow trekkers on the way.. fells good when u meet them bcoz u knw u r on the right path.

Final stage had this lader ( shidi ) .. there were 2 infact and new one and the pld one.

It was really cold out there... winds blowing at high speeds. Spent some time arnd saw the caves, entrance around and then sat beside a water tank for havin few snacks that we had carried.

Finished everything and then started the descent. The descent was speedy and simple. We njoyed it.

The icing on the cake was a waterfall of which we came to knw later by other fello trekkers who had been there. U can chk the pics to see how beatiful the waterfall was. Bahut maramari kiya. Amit and Manav ne milke mujhe bahut paani pilaya ... sari trek ki bhadas nikal de.. ( bahut paani pilaya)

Even though we didnt wat to leave that place we had to and we did leave it after about an hour. Reached da village house where we had ordered for food, ate it and started for Asangaon. Wittnessed da striptease again by Amit and Manav on the same platform ... GOD y me only! LoL

Hey also got to see a firefly on the track !

The train was waiting jst for us .. ddint see anyonw else on the platform except the driver ..no one in the compartment either. got the tickets and the train started... dhk dhk dhk.... !

Listened to music while in the train.. chkd the pics again (well all the pics were taken from Amits cell.. coudnt believe we wud get sch fine quality pics) Hey theres this video in his cell too whn i had removed my T-shirt.. the t went witht the flow of the water and me runnign behind it (well its the retak tat he shot)

Said the final goodyes to Amit and man main thnk Us bcoz he made the terk worthwile.

Need not say at the end that every trek exp. is unforgetfull and cant be put in words for U.

Its been raining heavily for the last 2 days especially during nights.
I do have a welcome visitor at home though.

Its a reflection... no Its an illusion... no no ... Its a firefly !

Yup its a firefly. Looks awesome ! A small greenish-yellow bulb moving and flying around. Coudnt stop staring at it. I have see fireflies when I have been to treks (everywhere on trees at night in Peth and on railways tracks when I had been to Mahuli).

I have also seen jugnoos at Juhu Beach long long back. I still remember dat site of a boundary formed at the edge of the beach in the evening after sunset.(Can anybody confirm whether Jugnoos and fireflies are the same creatures?) I remember me and my brother collecting a few of them in a bottle, bringing them home and waiting dedicatedly for them to glow which they never did.

well there is this good news... Mamta has left for US on Monday night. She was scheduled to leave on Aug 9 but bcoz of Maleria it got postponed. She would be doing her MS in CS at IIT, Chicago.

well there is this good news... bt not really for me bcoz now I wont be having a sister to visit for Rakshabandhan.... sad. relly sad !

hey had bought a cute little photo frame for her. mom also did gift her something... bt this was my gift for her. well in the photo frame i selected a pic of her and mine together when we were small and cute [shes still is cute]. with it i also put this "maar... ahe na" [ a small incident which i will never forget... ]

once whn she had come at our place long back... we were passing our time playing.. dnt remember wat. the next thing i remember is that i hit her with a cushion. she said "maar maar mee tujhi moti baheen aahe na... maar ! ". then i started bashing her up with more blows and later stopped {dnt remember Y?} bt she did bear all of it.

did reach the airport early an hour before... [surprised.. ? its bcoz of mom. whn moms there this is wat happens. bt better tan reaching late]

whn i did gift her the case ... she was damn xcited to open it...! which she did and i cud feel and see [glowing eyes and big smile] tat she loved it. she showed it to everyone around[... offcourse relatives only.. ya and her frnd Shalaka]

did pakofy others esp. Boss [Sushil dada] a lot while she was chking in... jst wantd to create a lighter ambience before the final good-byes.

Won the WebD competition in Technozonva'05 organised by VJTI. I liked the format ...didnt hav to whack my brains for long like in other fests where the format of the competition demands you to work on the website for 3hrs [sometimes 3hrs elims+3hrs finals]. At VJTI it was a 20 mins elims where we had to recreate a website which they showd a glimpse of and then a rapid fire finals of 1 hr which rawkd. Never ever had i tried to make a website in a hour. It was FuN. Wanna see what I came up with in just one hour... click here >>> FuN Mall . A lady Prof. judged the event was particularly impressed by my work.

Even Nishant was there for programming contest which was in the same lab. He never misses them. Another interesting fact is that he knws most of the programmers in the college that he goes to and he makes sure that he tells them about me. They end up comming to me and saying "Hi hello.. I am Nishants frnd.. he tld me abt u .. tat u r good @ webD and u wud probably win.."
Feels good !!! Feels good !!! Feels good !!! bt i may not be da best at accepting compliments even if i like them ;-) Do let me knw wat u feel abt da same... !

[Well jst qikly read thru this. Its wat Manav posted on our grps. Sums most of the fun tat we had on 26th bt surely not all. Writing style is also different (u wud knw if u hav read some of my earlier takes) bt gets the imp mesg thru. Dnt worry me wud be posting on da same sooOn.] When Sir Amiya Tripathi came and announced the dismissal of lectures, it seemed a great relief from the unstoppable, "nothing great", exhaustive DSP lecture. It was however unknown what would soon follow. Bridges were washed away, rail tracks submerged, telephone lines hit and large areas suffered power cuts. Among the worst affected areas were Bandra, Mahim, Matunga, Dadar, Santacruz, Byculla, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane and Badlapur. The city's lifeline, the train services, were paralysed due to waterlogged tracks and thousands of people camped in the stations where food stalls were kept open through the night. We (Myself, Akshay, PD) started our journey through rains viewing it as an adventurous, thrilling experience filled with excitement. However, later when we found BEST BUS then half dipped in water with lots of DBITians inside, a wise thought stuck us to return to college premises; which we did but not all DBITians turned up to our proposal. So the fellowship(Myself, Akshay, PD) again made the move to the BEST BUS. However, we could not make it due to impactful nature of rains. Returning to college was like taking a shade under our own house. Well, we had a great fun filled experience; who wouldn't have when there are ppl like Adhwait, Neto, Ravi around! Strange incidents were all around. Myself and Akshay went in heavy rains to bring something to eat for all. We went through the canteen wala back gate and to our shock, when we turned back with vada-pavs we found it locked! Then Anna's Dal-Rice were overheard being appreciated. Atleast Anna has something in the good books! Astonishing statements were made by all the profs around: "Anyone found on 2nd floor during night would be directly rusticated." "Don't even turn your head while you r on the second floor" "(At 9'o' clock) Did u guys had your lunch already?" Still curious to know what was on the second floor! We played all the games possible out there. Then came the time to sleep! We struggled here n there on the chairs to sleep, but in vain. Thanks to Akshay, he came up with an excellent idea to remove the curtains and sleep on it. So when our bed was ready, everyone jumped onto it to grab a place! Sorry Adhwait, as we could give you just 6cm of the place. Morning due to cold , we found our throat chocked up, may be due to cold, laughter, screaming. Even Adhwait could not sing his Morning Raga. "I can sing only BASE songs properly" in his own words. Anna's FREE Black tea would have done the trick for our singer. We were all reloaded then to spend one more day(may be even night) in college. It was indeed not a good time for Hygenious (hopefully correct spelling) Neto around. Neto came on bike the same day. Neto undefeatedly, patiently trying to call to his house right from 3 'o' clock made a striking statement: "Mere ghar ka cell no. yaad nahi re barabar se." Anish offered a great help by himself trying to call from his cell atleast 100 times. Neto ended the first, and started the other day by the same statement :- "Ae Anish, phone try kar na re!" I had a good experience at hand and heartously SALUTE the SPIRIT of Mumbai inspite of being SIX FEET UNDER, still keeps on going. Mumbai never stops, Mumbai never sleeps! It has to go on. That's AAMCHI MUMBAI. Yeh Hain Mumbai Meri Jaan!

cAmPuS PlAcEmEnT @ DBIT for Patni

Well Patni was the first to come to our college. No one was tat xcited abt it comming to our college bcoz Patni is not one of the companies that you wud lik to try da first time. The reason being tat its not the highest payer and also tat it leeches a lot of wrk out of you[which i dnt mind]. But I mst say frm the ppl i spoke to its gr8 to work there as a fresher. Nothing like Patni when it comes to gaining xperience. Now abt the whole procedure...

We were told tat ther was an aptitude test on 20th of June and pre-placement activity for a couple of days before it. I missed da Mahabaleshwar trip [wid my mom, masi and cousin varsha] to prepare for it. Had been to college for the first day of pre-placemeent activity on 17th. It wasnt anything spl bt nevertheless I got to play Tennis for 3-4 hrs in college. I decided tat the next 2 days I would sit at home and jst got thru RS Agarwal Quantitative Aptitude.

I must say the book is really good and it covers everything from Ist to Xth std. It took me 2 days to go thru most of the important sections of the book. I felt comfortable wid Maths once again after my Xth std.

I made a winning resume wid the help of my cousin Sushil. I used up all his Sunday afternoon for it [poor guy he jst gets a Sunday off]. By the end of the I was very confident abt my resume.

On the day of the interview I started reading thru the previous yr Patni pprs. I had hrd a lot of it repeats. We all assembled in college @ 9:00 as we were tld to. It was very unprofesional of the Patni ppl to come at 12 [they mst be having their own reasons]. Though within no time we were given the answer sheets and xplained abt the marking scheme [+1 and -1]. All the questions were of Quantitative Type only.

There wre abt 8-10 question which repeated and fortunately I remeberd the ans for most of them. I did find the other questions quite easy. Actually I only answerd the questions tat I was quite sure of. The last 10 questions were too simple. I feel sorry for the ppl who didnt reach there bcoz of time constraints.

Then there was this Presentation frm the Patni ppl which was intersting. Then the results for the aptitude were announced.

I was IN ! 18 ppl cleared the aptitude.

We were divided in 2 grps for a GD. The topic for us was "Global terrorism and its effect of IT Industry". My opinion was that,

The IT industry is maturing and thus is not diretly affected by terrorism [bcoz the statistics say for themselves... the IT industry has only grown after 9/11] but terrorism directly affects the People and this is one thing which we cannot ignore. The IT industry can play a major role today to curb cyber terrorism which may be the next big thing after 9/11 in the near future.

After the GD the results were announced immediately and we were told tat it wasnt a elimination procedure bt jst to get us tlking nothing else. So everyone cleared it.

Were were told that the interview may be tomm or day after. I felt good bcoz i wud get a chance to brush up my C, C++ [strt frm scratch] and JAVA.

I started wid C++ and it tokk me a lot of time. By the next day I learnt thaat we wud hav an Interview on Friday da 24th 2:00pm @ Patni office. It was da same day whn Masi and Varsha wer gonna leave for Delhi. I spent da whole time I got to read abt C++ and also strengthen my resume. First I was gonan giv Amol a surprise if everything wud hav finished in a day or two bt since it took long I informed him. I sent him my resume and askd for his help. He relied wid a lot of chnges. He also suggested a one page resume which even I likd and the finally decided tat I need to mak my resume of jst one page. We workd on it for a long time online wid many chnges to the sentence formations, placement and design. Amol even helpd me to form my career objective [actually he wrote it for me and i felt i cud relate to it and so its in my resume now].

Finally it was Friday. I was all set for the Big day. Had said my goodbyes to Masi and lot of luv to Varsha. While I was tiying the knot of my tie I recieved a call frm Manav tat the interviews have been postponed bcoz of rains. This was the last thing I expected to happen and I was completely lost. I somehow kept cool confirmed the news and then jst kept quite. Good Varsha was here andI got to pass some time and ponder abt things.

I decided to go for this trek to Peth-Bhimashankar, bocz there was nothng else taht i cudd think of doing in the weekend. I learnt abt this trek frm Yahoo grps which I had subscribed after my first trek to Harishchandragad. Mom said a clear "NO" whn i tld her abt it. She wasnt comfortable wid the rainy season and i cudnt convince her tat it was the best time. I knew my parent wud agreee bt dint knw when. I prayed they agreed before it was too late and i cud co-ordinate wid others and leave for the trk in the monring.

Later in da day I went to see off Masi and Varsha. Kissed them goodbye.

LAter had a tought time convincing my parents and then co-ordinatin wid others. BT i finnaly made it and u can read abt the whole adventure in my next post.

Came back on Monday mornig at 1 and did sleep for a long time. Then again slept in the afternoon. Did make the final chnges in the resume and got them printed.

Day of the interview...

Was on time [not lik always... hahaha]. The office was nice. Now straight abt the interview...

My interview was taken by Divya Pandey some Senior manager of Product Engg division. She was relly cool and composed. Also she was completly informal bt i kept my coposure and distance.

i m sure vivas this sem had a toll on everbody as its obvious frm the 'heartflet trueset emotions' expressed by dudes here. its more bcoz of hectic schdule rather than the difficulty of the vivas. i m sure everyone wud agree that this sem vivas have been much better that 4 sem vivas which were a disaster for everyone. well y talk abt the bad times now [comparitively better tan 4 sem] and ya this thread[... ravi tak notice of this word its gonna haunt U for a long time] is open for a debate.

Most of the were so bad,
